Rocket League and Minecraft tracking with the Companion
Some games have no public statistics API at all. Rocket League on Steam exposes only unnamed counters. Minecraft has no online profile. The EGS Companion is a small Windows app that fills that gap by watching the game on your own PC and sending session summaries to your EveryGameStat account.
What it measures
- Any game: when it started, when it ended, how long you played. Detection uses the Steam running-game signal and a database of game executables.
- Rocket League: match results with the score, goals, saves and shots per match, your win rate with the number of matches behind it, and a live score while you play.
- Minecraft Java: hours per server and per singleplayer world, deaths and advancements, read from the game's log file. Works with vanilla, CurseForge, Prism and Modrinth launchers.
- Call of Duty: which title in the unified launcher is actually running, so a session is filed under Black Ops 7 or Modern Warfare rather than a generic "Call of Duty".
What it does not do
It does not read chat, take screenshots, record video or scan files outside the game logs it needs. It does not measure time when it is not running, so it cannot backfill history from before you installed it. Bedrock Minecraft has no readable log, so only Java is supported; Bedrock hours come through Xbox. All of this is stated in the app rather than hidden.
Honesty limits you should know
- Minecraft server time includes the time in the menu after leaving a server, because the log has no disconnect line. The app closes a server segment when you join another server or world, or when the game stops.
- Rocket League results are read as the game reports them, including forfeits and disconnects.
- Sessions under one hour are shown in minutes rather than rounded to zero hours.
Discord presence
With Discord open, the Companion sets a rich presence for every detected game: the game's cover art, "tracking stats with EveryGameStat", and a live line such as the current Rocket League score or the Minecraft server. It can be switched off in the settings.
Installing and linking
Download the installer from the Companion page, choose an install folder, and sign in with a link code from your EveryGameStat profile. The app updates itself in the background and lives in the system tray. It is currently in alpha and is open source on GitHub, so you can read exactly what it does.
Where the data shows up
On your card as "playing now" and today's session, on the game page for Rocket League and Minecraft with per-match and per-server detail, and in the weekly recap as sessions per game.
