How to see your hours played on Xbox

Xbox records time played for most games on your gamertag, whether you play on a console or through the Xbox app on Windows. It just does not put the number anywhere obvious. Here is where it is.

On Xbox Series X or S

  1. Press the Xbox button and use RB to move to Profile & system.
  2. Select My profile.
  3. Move to the Gaming tab with RB.
  4. Select a game, and on its Progress screen choose Stats.

Time played shows in days, hours and minutes. Some games have no Time played entry on that screen at all.

On PC and on the web

Sign in on xbox.com, open your profile, go to Achievements and select a game. Its page lists the game's stats, including the time played when the game reports it. PC Game Pass games that you start through the Xbox app count toward the same gamertag as your console games, so they show up in the same place.

Once a year: Xbox Year in Review

At the end of each year Xbox publishes Year in Review, with your total hours for that year, your most played games and the achievements you earned. It is the only place where Xbox shows a total, and it covers one year, not your whole history.

Why some games show nothing

  • Not every game reports time played to Xbox. Those games still have achievements and gamerscore, but no hours.
  • Time counts for the profile that is signed in. On a shared console, hours played under someone else's profile go to that profile.

The privacy setting that matters

Whether anyone else, a stats site included, can see your games and hours depends on the Xbox privacy setting Others can see your game and app history. If games or hours are missing after you link your gamertag here, set it to Everybody. You find it in the privacy settings on your console or on xbox.com.

Doing it here

Link your Xbox account with your gamertag. Your card then shows the time Xbox publishes for each game, together with your gamerscore. For a game that reports no time, the hours stay empty: that is the honest answer, not a zero. Gamerscore itself is explained in the Xbox gamerscore guide.
