Where to find your identifier on every platform
Every platform names its identifier differently and hides it somewhere else. None of them is a password, and none of them lets anyone log in to your account. Here is where each one lives.
Steam: profile URL or SteamID64
Either works. The URL is easiest: open your profile in Steam or in a browser and copy it from the address bar. It looks like steamcommunity.com/id/yourname or steamcommunity.com/profiles/7656119.... The number version, SteamID64, is 17 digits and always starts with 7656. You can also find it through Edit Profile. Paste either one and the number is resolved for you.
Your hours and achievements only come through when Game details is set to public. The Steam privacy guide shows exactly which setting that is.
Xbox: gamertag
Your gamertag is the name shown at the top of the Xbox app, on the dashboard of the console, and on your profile. That is all that is needed. Since gamertags can be changed and can include spaces, type it exactly as it appears. If your profile is set so that others cannot see your game and app history, the game list will not come through.
PlayStation: online ID
Your online ID is your PSN name, the one shown on your profile in the PlayStation app and on the console under Settings, Users and Accounts. It is not your email address and not your real name. Trophy and game visibility on the PlayStation side has to allow anyone, otherwise the profile cannot be read at all. See the PlayStation guide.
Riot: Riot ID with tagline
Since 2023 a Riot account is identified by a name, a hash sign and a tagline, for example Player#EUW. You find it in the Riot client under your name, or in the profile inside League of Legends or Teamfight Tactics. The tagline is whatever you chose and is not necessarily your region, so the region has to be selected separately. Two players can share a name with different taglines. Supercell: player tag
Clash Royale, Brawl Stars and Clash of Clans each use a tag that starts with a hash sign, found under your name on your in-game profile. Each game has its own tag, even on the same Supercell ID. Tags only use the characters 0, 2, 8, 9, P, Y, L, Q, G, R, J, C, U and V, so a typed O is really a zero. Full detail in how to find your Clash Royale player tag.
Fortnite: Epic display name
Use the name shown in the Fortnite lobby, or the PlayStation or Xbox name if you play there. Statistics only exist for accounts that have public game statistics switched on in the Fortnite career settings. A private account is reported as private rather than shown as zeros.
PUBG: in-game name
PUBG needs the name as it appears in the game, not your Steam name, and it is case sensitive. The platform has to be chosen as well: Steam, Xbox, PlayStation or Kakao.
What none of these do
All of the above are public identifiers that the platforms themselves publish about public profiles. With any of them a site can read what that platform chooses to expose. None of them can be used to log in, buy anything, change a setting, or post on your behalf. If a site ever asks for the password of a game account, close it.
